In this lesson plan, students will learn about the origins of the war, beginning with an analysis of different ideologies present at the end of the nineteenth century. An exploration of military tactics will emphasize the novelty of the war and separate it from previous conflicts. We will also analyze decisions made on the home front and public reactions to the realities of modern warfare. Finally, students will look at the peace agreements that ended the war and discuss how this instability contributed to further conflicts in the 20th century.
